The DeKrygers, one year later

(This update was originally written and distributed on February 19, 2017. It is reposted here by permission)

Todd poured out his life here so that many would know about a building made by God that is eternal.  I Corinthians 5:2

As the end of February approaches, we are nearing the one year anniversary of Todd’s entrance into Glory. A bitter sweet time, reflecting on all God accomplished through Todd, yet still feeling the enormous void he has left in our family and the ministry of the Hospital of Hope. We will join our teammates and hundreds of Togolese friends to remember Todd’s legacy while celebrating the two year anniversary of the Hospital of Hope. Each day hundreds of patients are cared for and hear about Jesus, some for the first time. Sadly, hundreds more wait at the hospital entrance for four to five days until they can be cared for. Please pray for more doctors and nurses to join us.

Please pray with us for this event on Sunday, February 26. Much truth from God’s Word will be shared.  Pray that our friends will be changed by the confidence they see in us as children of the King. I will be sharing briefly from John 8 :51 where Jesus says ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death”, focusing on believing the words that Jesus said about Himself. Only in Scripture can we find real assurance about our eternal destiny. When we reflect on death apart from Scripture, we’re left with doubt, fear, and hopelessness. This is the state in which most of our West African friends live. Each day we see people who are toppling towards the edge of eternal separation from God. In reality they aren’t that much different than me, only not yet seized by the grace of God, not yet given the opportunity to hear the truth of what Jesus accomplished on their behalf.

Our days of ministry in the Hospital continue to be full of opportunities to speak of God’s redemptive plan to lovingly draw all people to Himself. In recent weeks we’ve been inspired in seeing the power of God as He  has undeniably directed individuals to us to hear of His truth and establish a relationship with them. Below I’ve written out one such story. We are so grateful for your prayers for our family and for God’s work here in Mango. He is evidently working through your prayers to sustain us and advance His Kingdom.

Longing for The One that has defeated death,

Jennifer, Will, Grant, Luke and Andrew

Please pray with us that God:

-would help the boys and I see and yearn for the very things that God Himself desires — most centrally, to see and experience more of God Himself in our hearts and lives, prompting us to share this with those around us.

-would work mightily by His Spirit on February 26th to use the Word of Truth that are shared to penetrate the hearts of our dear friends who are currently enslaved in darkness.

-would raise up the desperately needed nurses and doctors to help staff the Hospital of Hope. Please contact us if you are interested and inform others of this crucial need.

-would establish His kingdom in greater measure today beginning in our own hearts and pouring out to the hospital, the community of Mango, and throughout West Africa.
