By Faith

My Sunday school class has spent the last six months working up to this point – Sunday morning we start Hebrews 11. We’re not sure how long it will take us to get through it. Thomas Manton preached 65 sermons on the chapter.  I hope we can get through it faster than that, but the lead-up to this wonderful chapter has been enlightening, and I’m looking forward to tackling the subject.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. (Hebrews 11:1-2 ESV)

The author of the letter then uses the phrase “By faith” at least 18 times in discussion of those people of old who lived their lives that way, and gives us great examples of how we can live our lives. Join us Sunday morning at 9:45 sharp in the youth room. Bring your coffee and your spiritual appetite and join us. No age limit on either end, we just require a desire to study God’s word.
